After the showpiece final that saw Michael van Gerwen crowned champion of the world, PDC chairman Barry Hearn named the lineup for the 2017 Premier League.The top four in the world are automatic picks, so Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright and Adrian Lewis there was no doubt about being selected. Then the PDC have four wildcards for the tournament; they were given to James Wade, Dave Chisnall, Jelle Klaasen and Kim Huybrechts. Final Sky Sports have two wildcards, and they were given to Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld.
The 2017 lineup looks exciting as all the stars have been in great form of late. Michael has won 26 ranked events in 2016 and will be favourite for this. Gary making it all the way to his third world final in a row, where he averaged 105 in losing to Michael. Raymond got to the semi-final of the world championships playing magnificently losing with a 109 average. Peter Wright also got to the semi-final and had been Mr consistent over the last year, and because of this he is up to a career high of world number three. James Wade has also got to the final of a ranking major, when he got to the Grand Slam final in November. Phil also got to major final last year, when he finished runner-up at the Matchplay. David Chisnall is one of the biggest scores you will find on planet darts, and will always be a danger. Jelle returns to the Premier League for the first time since 2009, when he was picked as a wild card. Kim also returns after a year’s absence; the Belgium star was unlucky in 2015 when he was eliminated despite some eye-catching performances.
