Last weekend was a huge darting weekend on the BDO calendar, having the England Open and the England National Singles over the same weekend at Selsey. In the men’s events, it was a great weekend for the northeast with Glen Durrant winning the England Open, and Gary Robson winning the National singles. Durrant beat Cohan Whitehead 6-3 in a final that had the Selsey crowd on the edge of their seats. Durrant won his first England Open crown with an average of 29.18. Gary Robson had his final all his own way, as he whitewashed Dennis Harbour 6-0. Robson never looked in any danger, as he rounded off victory with a 27.98 average.
In the Ladies events, it was double joy for Deta Hedman, as she won both the England Open and the National Singles. In the England Open Hedman had it pretty much here own way, as she swept Alleen de Graaf aside 5-2 with a 30.01 average. In the National Singles, it was a different story. In the semi-final, Fallon Sherrock missed nine-match darts to beat Hedman. In the final Hedman survived a comeback from former world champion Lisa Ashton, Hedman winning a final leg decider to in 5-4. There were treble celebrations for Hedman as these were her 100/101 ranking title victories.
