The draw for the Singha Beer Grand Slam of Darts has been made, throwing up so very tough looking groups. One of the standout games will be when PDC world number one Michael van Gerwen takes on the three times BDO world champion Martin Adams in Group A. Group B sees the weakest of the PDC seeds in Robert Thornton, in what looks a tough group with Gerwyn Price, Dimitri van den Bergh and BDO world champion Scott Waites. In Group C it’s hard to look past Peter Wright, and Simon Whitlock as the PDC pair have been in fine form, but I’m sure Ted Evetts and Jeff Smith will have something to say about that. Group D has the sixteen times world champion Phil Taylor as the seeded player, along with Ian White, Darren Webster and Darryl Fitton.
Group E has the PDC world champion Gary and Anderson and the BDO world number one Glen Durrant, along with Alan Norris and Nathan Derry this looks an exciting group. Would be great to see Glen qualify from Group E. Group F has the new world number 7 in Mensur Suljovic and Raymond van Barneveld as the two favourites to qualify, but Nathan Aspinall and Danny Noppert will be a danger to the PDC stars. Group G looks one of the toughest groups, with James Wade, Dave Chisnall, James Wilson and Jamie Hughes. Wade and Chisnall have both been in good form of late, Wade making the semi-final of the European Championships and Chisnall the semis of the World Series finals. Wilson has also been in great form recently so will be a danger. Group H is intriguing, as top seed Adrian Lewis has been far from his best of late. Youngsters Benito van de Pas and Chris Dobey have been in fine form on the floor, so if they can take that form to the stage will be a danger. And you can never right off 2015 BDO world champion Scott Mitchell.
