After a thrilling night of darts in Perth, we now have our four semi-finalists. The first game of the evening saw Adrian Lewis play Raymond van Barneveld. In the opening round, both players were somewhat below par. Tonight we saw the class of both players, as they both averaged over 100. RvB won a tight game by 10 legs to 8. Both players will be hoping to take the form they showed tonight into the back end of 2016, as all roads head to the world championships.
The second game on was Michael van Gerwen against James Wade. This game has us gripped as it swung one way then the other. Michael would go on to win the match 10-8 with both players averaging 99. James will be jubilant with his performance, after spending the last week in bed with a virus and looks like he will be a force in the back end of the season. Although Michael will be happy to get through he won’t be happy with his two performances in Perth so far, the world number one is yet to hit his high standards in the Perth Masters.
Dave Chisnall beat Gary Anderson for the first times since April 2015 to book his place in the semi-finals. Both player never really hit high gears we know they have, both Anderson and Chisnall are two of the biggest scores in the game, but both struggled this evening. It was their doubling that stood out tonight, as both had over 50% checkout stats but it was Chizzy won ran out a 10-7 winner.
The final game of the evening saw home favourite Corey Cadby take on Peter Wright. Cadby who caused the biggest upset in World Series history last night, when the young Aussie beat the reigning champion, Phil Taylor. If you just saw the scoreline which was 10-2 to Wright, you would have thought that it was a very one-sided affair, but far from it. Wright did to Cadby, what the young man did to Taylor. Corey finished with a 109 average yet only won 2 legs, due to Wright’s brilliance. With 13 180s in just 12 legs, this was certainly the match of the night. Wright will now take on MvG full of confidence tomorrow, and This won’t be the last we see of Cadby on TV.
